Group classes are a great way to meet other pet owners, obtain much needed socialization and work on similar problems.  Some behavioral problems are best treated in a group class.  You will find many opportunities to practice learned behaviors in a variety of  situations with many different people. Additionally, there is an open discussion each week to address any specific problems you are encountering. The class is taught around basic foundation behaviors, but each class is different as we applies these principles to the individual students.   

Text Box: Basic obedience– This class begins with an introduction to dog behavior and learning theory. The basic commands, sit, down, stay, come, loose leash walking and greeting a friendly stranger are introduced. Each handler and their dog will receive specific instruction as well as group instruction. A different “novelty” is introduced including umbrellas, walkers, backpacks, strollers, etc at each class. Weekly open discussions allow for each handler to discuss any problems they are seeing at home and learn new ways to correct and improve these problems. Typical behavioral problems such as jumping, nipping, housebreaking and chewing are discussed and worked on in depth. Each handler should come away from this class with the skills and confidence necessary to achieve basic obedience with their dog. REGISTER FOR CLASS Fall– begins September 1st 9am, winter-begins January 12th Text Box: Intermediate obedience- Intermediate picks up at the end of the basic obedience. Here we begin to proof the commands we’ve taught through added distractions, distance and duration. The handlers will learn in this class how to achieve obedience in a variety of settings and circumstances. The additional commands of heel, stand for examination, and long leash work are added. .REGISTER FOR CLASS Text Box: Reactive dog class-For the dog who reacts in either fear or aggression to strange dogs, strange humans or other stimuli. This is a small class where we work building each dogs confidence in a slow but progressive manner until each dog is able to work up to his/her best. This is an ongoing class with the goal of entering into the intermediate class. REGISTER FOR CLASS
